| Description: | The Director of Resident Life provides hands on management of the male and female residential life programs as well as Resident Life Staff members. This includes the direct supervision of all related activities for students as well as governance of the dormitory. |
| Duties: | 1. Organize a residential program that reflects student accountability, organization, academic assistance, and good conduct.
2. Handles issues relating to staff and students in dealing with specific residence hall problems including roommate conflicts, personal and emotional problems, diversity issues, and other developmental concerns. Be cognizant of the special needs and concerns of all students and initiate programming and other efforts in the halls to address these needs and concerns.
3. Plan wholesome, diverse, educational, and entertaining weekend activities
4. Manage and coordinate all room assignments and changes in the halls and communicate/resolve problems in accordance with established procedures. Respond to all inquiries, problems, and complaints from students, staff, and parents related to the halls.
5. Work closely with the student Prefects to instill and build student leadership
6. In conjunction with the Dean of Students be responsible for room searches, when appropriate
7. Establish and maintain communication with students living in the residence halls through individual contacts, meetings, and discussions. Serve as a mediator/facilitator when necessary to provide resolutions for interpersonal conflicts between students. Coordinate implementation of roommate agreement and community agreement process.
8. Participate in the overall planning and management of the residence hall system and provide input in the development of policies and procedures. Participation on task forces, and group goal planning and objective setting.
9. Report to the Dean of Students any suspicions of inappropriate behavior of students or resident faculty
10. Coordinate weekend faculty with respect to Saturday School / Friday Study Hall supervision
11. Assume �on-call� responsibility for area residence halls on a scheduled basis.
12. Report to the Director of Operations repairs and/or concerns about facilities in the resident community
13. Uphold the policies and regulations stated in The Handbook for Parents and Students and The Employee and Faculty/Staff Handbooks.
14. Create and circulate staff and faculty duty schedules at the beginning of each semester and/or summer.
15. Conduct weekly Residential Life Staff development meetings.
16. Report dorm maintenance issues to Director of Operations on a weekly basis.
17. Evaluate Residential Life Staff and Faculty.

| Qualifications: | � College degree in recreation, psychology, sociology or related field with relevant experience.
� Previous supervisory experience of a progressive nature is an asset.
� Ability to be insured and drive company vehicle.
� Ability to actively engage in all required physical activities with students.
� Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints in a confidential manner.
� Ability to apply principles of logic to a wide range of practical problems.
� Provide general supervision of the student population at all times while on campus.
� Complete other tasks as assigned by Dean of Students or Head of School
